Below you will find detailed tips on flight connections.
If you are thinking of coming to Lithuania by car or train, please contact us. Some participants actually travel by car in order to discover the whole Baltic States more easily.
Flight directly to Palanga
There is a small international airport in Palanga. Yes, you read that right: The small town of 18,000 people has an international airport - which of course also serves the neighbouring, much larger Klaipeda. The airport is only 10 minutes away by taxi from the centre of Palanga.
Ryanair and AirBaltic, and several Scandinavian airlines are flying to Palanga. You might find a good connection – not necessarily as direct flight, but with a stopover.
This is an opportunity, we think! Some connections include almost 14 hours stopover in Riga. We think: This is not a problem, but an opportunity. With bus connections every 15 minutes, you can easily explore Riga for 10 hours until you should take the next bus back to the airport for 2 €.
If you don't have time for visiting Vilnius this time, we recommend giving the direct and indirect connections to Palanga a chance.
Flight to Vilnius or Kaunas
Most flights, obviously, go to the capital Vilnius – or to the relatively nearby city of Kaunas. Apart from many traditional airlines, various low-cost airlines like Ryanair, WizzAir, and AirBaltic fly to Lithuania.
From Vilnius and Kaunas, it is relatively easy to get to Klaipeda or directly to Palanga. Every day there are dozens of bus and several train connections, but also good car rental offers.
By bus 🚌 directly to Palanga
On autobusubilietai.lt/en you will find numerous bus connections every day directly to Palanga bus station, from where you can walk to your accommodation.
By train 🚈 to Klaipeda
The state railway offers comfortable trains (some very modern) from Vilnius via Kaunas to Klaipeda via ltglink.lt/en. You can get to Palanga with numerous buses, a rental car, or by arrangement with us (see tips below).
💡
Pick up in Klaipeda
If time allows, we may be able to organise a shuttle to pick you up in Klaipeda and bring you to Palanga. Please contact us.
By car 🚙 directly to Palanga
The advantage of travelling by car is that you can not only drive directly to your hotel or airbnb, but also visit tourist highlights on the way from Vilnius/Kaunas to Palanga, such as Kaunas or the Hill of Crosses near Siauliai.
If you are planning to do this, please contact us.

Tip for rental cars
If you want to avoid a long-term rental, the car-sharing provider CityBee (citybee.lt/en) is a good option: You can rent a car in Vilnius, for example, and drive it to Palanga. There you can park the car and end the rental.
Accommodation
Palanga is a relatively small, touristic town. There are many accommodation options for every taste and price range - including not only plenty of hotels, but also many good and inexpensive offers from private owners.
Personally, on each visit we have picked a different accommodation - according to our desire, fancy and availability - and so far we have had only good experiences!
